ISMI: a classification index for high angular resolution diffusion imaging

چکیده
Diffusion MRI allows the examination of neuronal pathways in vivo. In contrast to diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) high angular resolution diffusion imaging (HARDI) [5,6] is able to reconstruct more than one fiber population within a voxel. HARDI-based tractography approaches need to identify voxels with multiple diffusion directions. In addition, fiber integrity information is vital in neuro-applications. However, the exact differentiation of profiles is still challenging.

Determination of Fiber Direction in High Angular Resolution Diffusion Images using Spherical Harmonics Functions and Wiener Filter
Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) MRI is a noninvasive imaging method of the cerebral tissues whose fibers directions are not evaluated correctly in the regions of the crossing fibers. For the same reason the high angular resolution diffusion images (HARDI) are used for estimation of the fiber direction in each voxel. One of the main methods to specify the direction of fibers is usage of the spher...
متن کاملCorrection of eddy current distortions in high angular resolution diffusion imaging.
PURPOSE To correct distortions caused by eddy currents induced by large diffusion gradients during high angular resolution diffusion imaging without any auxiliary reference scans. MATERIALS AND METHODS Image distortion parameters were obtained by image coregistration, performed only between diffusion-weighted images with close diffusion gradient orientations. A linear model that describes dis...
متن کاملInvestigating the uncertainty in multi-fiber estimation in High Angular Resolution Diffusion Imaging
In this paper, we investigated the reconstruction accuracy and information uncertainty in multi-fiber estimation to better understand the tradeoff between scanning time and angular precision in High Angular Resolution Diffusion Imaging (HARDI). Reconstruction accuracy was measured using the Kullback-Leibler divergence (sKL) on the orientation density functions (ODFs) first in simulations with v...
متن کاملHigh angular resolution diffusion imaging in a child with autism spectrum disorder and comparison with his unaffected identical twin.
In recent years, the use of brain diffusion MRI has led to the hypothesis that children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) show abnormally connected brains. We used the model of disease-discordant identical twins to test the hypothesis that higher-order diffusion MRI protocols are able to detect abnormal connectivity in a single subject. We studied the structural connectivity of the brain of a...
متن کاملImproved Delineation of Short Cortical Association Fibers and Gray/White Matter Boundary Using Whole-Brain Three-Dimensional Diffusion Tensor Imaging at Submillimeter Spatial Resolution
Recent emergence of human connectome imaging has led to a high demand on angular and spatial resolutions for diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). While there have been significant growths in high angular resolution diffusion imaging, the improvement in spatial resolution is still limited due to a number of technical challenges, such as the low signal-to-noise ratio and high motion artifa...
